Gratitude & Growth
The #1 Shift That Helped Me Actually See Results in My Growth Journey
For years, I was deep in the work—mindset practices, somatic healing, yoga, breathwork, meditation, self-inquiry. I had all the tools. And yet, something still felt…off.
I would experience breakthroughs, feel clarity, and think, This is it. I’ve got it. But then, life would happen. I’d get triggered, fall back into old patterns, and feel like I was starting over again. It was frustrating. It made me question whether true transformation was even possible.
And then, after what I now call my Summer of Sadness, everything changed.
The Moment It Clicked: Integration Over Information
After months of emotional upheaval, I made two lists:
1. Who I was at that moment—how I was showing up in the world, the habits and patterns I was stuck in.
2. Who I wanted to be—the qualities, mindset, and way of being that felt aligned with the life I wanted.
Looking at those lists, I realized something: I didn’t need more knowledge. I didn’t need another book, another workshop, another deep-dive into personal growth theory.
I needed to live what I already knew.
Instead of treating mindset work, movement, and spiritual practice as separate things, I started integrating them daily. And that’s when my growth stopped feeling like a struggle and started feeling like momentum.
What Changed: How I Actually Started Integrating Growth Daily
Instead of treating self-growth like something I had to work on, I built small, simple ways to make it a natural part of my life. Here’s what that looked like:
1. Mind: Awareness & Reflection
- Every morning, I journaled—not just for insight, but to track my behaviors. What patterns showed up yesterday? What felt aligned? What didn’t?
- I focused on one area at a time (for example, my need to prove myself) instead of trying to change everything at once.
- At night, I reflected: Did I show up in alignment with who I want to be today?
- I also created weekly check-ins, where I could look back and notice bigger patterns: Where was I growing? Where was I still repeating old cycles? This practice made my progress feel tangible, instead of just something I hoped was happening.
2. Body: Grounding & Regulation
- Every morning, I followed a structured routine: I journaled for gratitude and self-awareness, set my intentions, did yoga or a workout, practiced breathwork, and then meditated.
- This wasn’t about checking off a to-do list—it was about creating a foundation for alignment that allowed my body and mind to work together.
- Movement wasn’t just exercise; it became an embodied way to process and reinforce my growth. I started noticing that my physical body would tense up in moments of resistance, and rather than ignoring it, I used movement to release the emotional energy.
- On stressful days, I learned to modify my routine—choosing slower movement or longer breathwork when my system needed more regulation instead of forcing myself to “push through.”
3. Soul: Presence & Intention
- I stopped seeing meditation as something I should do and instead used it as a daily check-in with myself.
- I built micro-moments of gratitude into my day—not just in the morning, but anytime I caught myself rushing or worrying.
- I actively practiced trust—instead of needing control, I worked on letting go and staying open to life.
- One of the most profound shifts was in how I approached uncertainty. Instead of fearing it, I started leaning into it—reminding myself that discomfort is often the doorway to growth.
Common Pitfalls: Why Integration Can Feel Hard
Many people recognize the importance of integration but struggle to make it work in real life. Here are the most common mistakes I see:
- Trying to be perfect. Integration isn’t about flawlessly executing every practice daily—it’s about consistency over time. If you miss a day, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Keep going.
- Forgetting to track progress. Without reflection, it’s easy to feel like you’re not making progress. Writing things down helps you see subtle shifts over time.
- Doing the work, but not bringing it into daily life. Growth happens in real-time, not just during morning routines. The key is applying what you’ve learned throughout your day.
Your 7-Day Integration Challenge
If you want to start integrating your growth work in a meaningful way, here’s a simple challenge for the next 7 days:
- Choose ONE focus area (ex: emotional regulation, gratitude, self-awareness).
- Pair it with something you already do daily. Example: If you’re working on gratitude, take 30 seconds to reflect before your morning coffee.
- Write a quick note at night. What worked? What felt hard? What small win did you notice?
By the end of the week, you’ll start to see how small, intentional shifts can create real momentum.
Final Thoughts: Stop Seeking, Start Living Your Growth
If you’ve been feeling stuck, I want you to know this: You don’t need more information. You need a way to actually live what you already know.
This shift—choosing integration over more learning—is what changed everything for me. And it’s something I’ll be talking more about soon—so stay tuned. Because personal growth should feel aligned, not exhausting.
Now I’d love to hear from you: What’s one self-growth practice you’ve learned but struggle to integrate?
Thank you for reading, and until next time, stay grateful and keep growing! 💚
